On August 21 2019, Walnut Creek Amish Flea Market suffered a devastating fire when a lightning strike set the building ablaze. Thankfully it was unoccupied and no one was injured, but the damage to the building was tremendous.
In the coming days the heartbroken staff, owners, and vendors began sifting through site to salvage what they could and begin to clear the debris. But during that gut wrenching process, some inspiration was found.
One of the vendors, The Gospel Shop owner Freeman Mullet, found a Bible among the charred and water damaged building remains. Some of the edges were a little charred and it had been water-soaked for days, but somehow it held together like it was meant to be found.
